The Society
No owner, no resort group, no shareholders
Mount Cain is operated by the Mount Cain Alpine Park Society — a non-profit, volunteer-run society. It is, in the Society's own words, Vancouver Island's only community owned and operated ski hill.
Purpose
Two sentences worth putting on the front page
The Society describes what it is for in plain terms: to provide "employment opportunities for North Islanders" and to keep "Mount Cain as a viable ski community".
That is a clearer mission statement than most ski areas manage, and it is currently buried. A concept redesign that did nothing else but move those two phrases somewhere people read them would still be worth doing.
Governance — reserved
Directors, an AGM date, a founding year, a membership structure: a society has all of these, and Mount Cain publishes none of them. No names appear anywhere in this concept, and no founding year — including in places where the layout is obviously asking for one.

Four ways to keep the hill open

Buy a season pass
The most direct thing anyone can do. A community hill with no outside owner runs on pass revenue, and the Society is explicit that its purpose is keeping Mount Cain a viable ski community.

Volunteer
Mount Cain is volunteer-run — that is the model, not a supplement to it. What the Society needs and when is for the Society to say, and asking is a one-line email.

Work a season
The Society names "employment opportunities for North Islanders" as one of the reasons it exists. This concept does not list roles or dates, because none are published.

Ask first
Every other community hill demo has a work-bee calendar and an AGM date here. Mount Cain publishes neither, so this card is a link to an inbox rather than an invention.
A membership page, in the real build
If the Society has members, a volunteer roster or a seasonal hiring window, each deserves its own page with a date attached — the same treatment this concept gives the season pass. We have not sketched them, because sketching them would mean inventing them.

An enquiry form would help
A short form routed to the same inbox — name, subject, message — would give every enquiry the same shape and save volunteers repeating themselves. It is described here rather than built, because a form that goes nowhere is worse than none.
Territorial acknowledgment
The Society's words go here — not ours
Mount Cain's own site acknowledges that the hill sits in 'Namgis First Nation territory, and gives the mountain's Kwak'wala name as Papikałan. This concept records that as a fact and reserves this space for the acknowledgment itself — deliberately writing none of it.
An acknowledgment is not filler copy for a design studio to draft. The wording belongs to the Society and the 'Namgis First Nation, and in a live build this block would carry their existing text verbatim.

Where every fact here came from
Everything on this site is drawn from the Society's own public website. Where the Society has published nothing — terrain figures, hours, a founding year, a phone number, the season the pass prices cover — this concept says so instead of guessing.
